Am 21.07.2022 um 18:30 Uhr wird Hannah Uprety ihr Buch „Wie aus Aswin und Pradeep Migranten wurden: Der Export nepalesischer Arbeitskraft zwischen Selbstführung und Vermarktung“* präsentieren.
Beschreibung:
Events wie die Fußball-WM in Katar zeigen, dass Wirtschaftswachstum ohne ausländische Niedriglohnarbeit oft undenkbar wäre. Am Beispiel Nepals zeichnet Hannah Uprety nach, durch welche Mechanismen Arbeitskraft letztlich zu einer global vermarktbaren Ware wird und wie nepalesische Männer zu „Arbeitsmigranten“ werden, bevor sie ihr Land überhaupt verlassen. Was Weltmarktlogiken und koloniale Machtstrukturen damit zu tun haben und weshalb die Arbeiter*innen trotzdem nicht automatisch in der Opfer-Rolle gefangen bleiben – darum geht es in ihrem Vortrag.
