Der Spielfilm „Heimat – Chronik einer Sehnsucht“ thematisiert die Epoche des Vormärz in den Jahren 1842 bis 1845 und die damalige Welle von Auswanderern aus dem Hunsrück nach Brasilien. Wie das gelang und welche Widerstände und Herausforderungen die deutschen Migrant*innen in Brasilien bewältigen müssen, davon handelt die Spielfilmreihe von Edgar Reitz, aus der Teil I und Teil II im Welthaus gezeigt werden.
